Frequently Asked Questions
At Movers of Sussex, we know how important it is to make moving day as stress-free as possible. That is why we have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions to ensure your move goes without a hitch.
As a guide you should ideally book your removals company around four to six weeks before your target completion date. However, as many moves are reliant on a chain, we understand that dates may change and most removers can be flexible up to a point. It is always best to keep us informed and we will do our best to accommodate any changing circumstance. Most moves take place on a Friday, so opting for any other day will give you a better chance of securing the right company for the right date.
At Movers of Sussex, we will visit you in your current home to assess just how much there is to move. During our visit, please make sure you tell us about any sheds, store rooms, cellars, garages or loft areas as this will all contribute to the amount that needs moving. In order for us to supply the right amount of vehicles and staff on the day we need to know exactly what we are expected to move. It also means our quotation will be as accurate as possible.
The answer is ‘Yes’ and this is one of the things our team members will assess on the initial visit. We will make a note of any access issues, as well as asking about the property you are due to move into. Our professional teams are trained to get you moving whether you are in a basement flat or on the 35th floor.
At Movers of Sussex we can supply all packing materials, including boxes, bubble wrap, paper and tape. We also provide wardrobe storage and a boxes in a range of sizes. It is better not to over pack the boxes – we can always supply more. But it makes life harder on the day if we need to unpack and repack.
Once again the answer is ‘Yes’. Should you require, our trained teams can come in ahead of the day to pack and label all your possessions. We are fully insured and our highly trained staff pack swiftly and securely to ensure your good arrive safely at their destination. What’s more, we can also unpack once you reach your new home.
Yes we can. Should the worst happen and your sale or purchase falls through, Movers of Sussex can move everything into a designated facility. We also offer a comprehensive range of storage options and are happy to help whether you require one of our stores for two weeks or two years. Once you have found the home of your dreams, simply get in touch and we will be on hand to move you to your new premises.
Remember to empty any loft areas, cellars, store rooms, garages and sheds. Take down any fixtures such as lampshades, curtains, pictures, mirrors and so on. Everything should be packed ready to be loaded. If you are using our removers or storage facility, remember to remove any personal documents from drawers, cupboards etc.
Below is a comprehensive checklist of everything that should be considered on or just before moving day.
- Make sure pets are cared for – the excitement, upheaval and busy atmosphere can cause distress
- Defrost freezers in advance – we cannot transport leaky appliances
- Disconnect all electricals – including white goods – before our team arrives
- Pack all foodstuffs and liquids carefully marking each box clearly
- Remember to pack a bag with essentials: phone charger, cash, keys so they don’t accidentally get packed with all the other goods
- Contact all utility companies well in advance to ensure gas/electric/water/phone/broadband are all either disconnected or ready for the new owner
- Have your post redirected
- Be prepared – our removers arrive bright and early and the more that is done in advance, the easier the move will be.
